ORNL FCU members are invited to bring any unwanted documents, especially ones containing personal information, to one of the Community Shred Day locations and have it safely and securely destroyed at no charge.
All materials for shredding must be in a box (15” x 12” x 10” or smaller) or a 13-gallon trash bag (or smaller).
Due to the limited amount of available space per truck for on-site shredding, each vehicle is permitted to shred up to three (3) boxes or bags of materials. ORNL FCU employees will remove documents from vehicles for shredding on-site. ORNL FCU is not
responsible for documents dumped or left unattended.
Paper is the only acceptable material for shredding, such as: bank statements, cancelled checked, credit card receipts, tax and insurance records, contracts, and financial statements.
Materials that are not acceptable include: batteries, food waste or trash, pill bottles, needles, grocery bags or plastic, cardboard, hanging folders, large metal objects, glass, electronics, media, or bullets.
Each Community Shred Day features secure, on-site document destruction. Length of event is limited to the capacity of the on-site shredding truck(s).
*Additional recycling services are publicly available, are not affiliated with ORNL FCU, and are provided at user’s expense. For more information pertaining to the services listed, please contact businesses and organizations directly.
